Rules (if applicable) : • Contestants will have 10 minutes to eat 50 pieces of sushi and rolls & 1 WASABI rice ball (Amateur) or 100 pieces of sushi and 2 WASABI rice balls (Professional). • Sushi & Rolls must be completely eaten. • Leaving the table for any reason once your 10 minutes has begun including bathroom breaks will result in disqualification. • Contestants must have a nice clean appearance. • Contestants must wait for the starting signal to begin eating and may not touch any sushi prior the starting signal. • Contestants must stop eating and must promptly place their hands down on the table or at their side at the 10 minutes’ mark • Contestants may not put additional sushi in their mouths after the ending signal, but allowed 15 seconds to swallow any sushi already in mouth. • Officials will be on hand to assure adherence to contest rules. • THE GRAND CHAMPION will be determined by eating all 50 or 100 pieces of sushi and rolls and 1 or 2 WASABI rice ball in First in the allow time of 10 minutes and yelling “NIJI” upon completion. • THE CHAMPION will be determined by eating all 50/100 pieces of sushi and rolls and 1/2 WASABI rice ball in First in the allow time of 10 minutes and yelling “NIJI” upon completion. • THE RUNNER UP will be determined by eating all 50/100 pieces of sushi and rolls and 1/2 WASABI rice ball in Second in the allow time of 10 minutes and yelling “NIJI” upon completion. Grounds of disqualification include: • False or incomplete entry form or liability waiver. • Any health risks that could jeopardize the contestant's health or well-being • Under the influence or any substance. • Starting prior to the start signal. • Continuing to eat after the ending signal. • Failure to yell “NIJI” upon completion. • Vomiting or regurgitating during or immediately after 10 minutes. • Refunds will not be given to disqualified contestants • **Niji Sushi Bar Sushi Challenge reserves the rights to disqualify any contestant for any reason without explanation.

For its 11th year, Niji Sushi will find out who Australia’s fastest sushi eater is! The record is 4:54 set by Joseph “Big Dags” Dagher in 2020, an unranked outsider snatching victory from ranked pro eaters.

This year the competition will be held at their new store in Hurstville, one not to be missed!

Amateur Contestants will have 10 minutes to finish 50 pieces of sushi and rolls, and 1 wasabi ball. The Professional Division will require eaters to eat 100 pieces of sushi and 2 wasabi balls. The competition will be fierce! And the prizes are amazing!

The Professional division will have a 1st place prize of $1,000 and 2nd place $250. Finish 2 platters in 10 minutes and the $75 entry fee is reimbursed. Finish one platter in 10 minutes and $35 will be reimbursed.

The Amateur Division will have a 1st place prize of $200 and 2nd place $100. Finish the platter in 10 minutes and the $50 entry fee will be reimbursed.
